Moscow has launched a special military operation in Ukraine to ensure the country's security, said Milorad Dodik, head of the Republika Srpska, which is part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In his opinion, Russia was forced to take this step, the website of the President of the Russian Federation reported. He said this during a meeting with Vladimir Putin, which took place the day before, on May, 23.

Russia had been fighting for security obligations for a long time, reminded Milorad Dodik. The country needed security guarantees, he added, and wished that the special operation ended as soon as possible.

Vladimir Putin thanked  Republika Srpska for maintaining neutrality in the conflict. In his opinion, only such a position will lead to a positive result.

Milorad Dodik noted that Western countries are constantly putting pressure on the Republika Srpska, forcing it to support anti-Russian sanctions. But he assured that the authorities do not want to join the Russophobic hysteria fanned by the efforts of the Western countries.

Putin has previously noted that Russia's relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina will develop despite some difficulties, which include the imposition of sanctions.
