The Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa has published short prayer books in the languages of the African peoples, Metropolitan Leonid reports on his Telegram channel.

The first batch of books in the Tiv language has already been sent to Nigeria. By Easter, prayer books in Kirundi will be received by the people of Burundi, and in Swahili - by the people of Tanzania.

The high-ranking clergyman explained that the books would enable believers to establish a regular prayer life in accordance with the tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church.

According to him, this is the first experience with these languages. The Greek Church did not translate prayer books into African languages.

Prayer books have also been translated and are being prepared for publication in Acholi (Uganda), Bemba (Zambia), Malagasy (Madagascar), Kikuyu (Kenya) and other African languages.

The presence of the Russian Church on the continent spread after the Patriarchal Exarchate was established in Africa. Metropolitan Leonid is sure that it will be possible to "cover almost the entire African continent and ensure the full presence of the Russian Orthodox Church."
