Residents of Latvia have been urged to stand up for the preservation of monuments in Riga, including the monument commemorating Alexander Pushkin, the BALTNEWS telegram channel reports. The signature can be left under the corresponding petition on the ManaBalss website of public initiatives.

It is noted that the website administration refused to post this appeal for a long time. To be considered by the Riga City Council, the petition must receive at least 2,000 votes.

Residents of Riga opposed the demolition of monuments. The rally at the city administration building in the center of the Latvian capital took place on March, 12. It was initiated by the Russian Union of Latvia party. The rally participants demanded to stop the destruction of culture.
