The ''Chekhov and His Time'' discussion took place in Venezuela. Fans and connoisseurs of Chekhov's works gathered at the Alberto Arvelo Torrealba Museum in the city of Barinas, according to the website of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature.

The discussion dedicated to the birthday of Anton Chekhov was initiated by the journalist and translator of Russian literature into Spanish, Ruben Dario Gutierrez. He plans to hold similar round table discussions in several Venezuelan cities in February.

According to the translator, Chekhov's works are still up-to-date, which is proved by the continuing interest in his work on the part of readers and theatrical spectators. According to the journalist, Chekhov's works have been staged about 174,000 times all over the world, and have also been filmed many times. In addition, Chekhov is one of the most translated authors in the world.

Ruben Dario Gutierrez mentioed the merits of Anton Chekhov as the author of memoirs of outstanding people of his time, and spoke about the writer's medical activity and his work for the benefit of the people of Russia.
