Musicians from Russia and Italy performed in Moscow at Yuri Bashmet International Arts Festival

Musicians and actors from Russia and Italy took part in the 4th Winter International Arts Festival in Moscow led by Yuri Bashmet, who celebrated his 70th birthday at the festival. The forum ended in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory with a concert by the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bashmet, TASS reports.

The program lasted for a month, it included performances and concerts on the stages of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and other venues.

Leading Russian musicians and actors took part in the festival. In February, the Italian ensemble Tenores de Bitti performed in Moscow. As part of their performances, the musicians paid tribute to the memory of the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov, whose 150th birthday is celebrated this year.

One of the main events of the festival was the Moscow premiere of The Living And the Dead. Soldiers Are Not Born performance devoted the work of Konstantin Simonov. A piece of the performance was shown in Volgograd on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army in the Battle of Stalingrad.

In mid-February, Yuri Bashmet will open the 16th Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi.
