Documentary about Andrei Tarkovsky broadcasted in Italy

The Italian TV channel Sky aired the ''Andrei Tarkovsky. Cinema as a Prayer'' documentary, created by the director's son. The screening of the film is timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of Andrei Tarkovsky, the premiere of the film took place three years ago as part of the Venice Film Festival, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

Andrei Tarkovsky Jr. noted that the anniversary of his famous father is celebrated around the world. He said that the premiere of the documentary on one of the main Italian TV channels speaks of the universality of creativity, and quoted his father's words that real art can "soften the human soul", which is especially important in difficult times.

In addition, Tarkovsky Jr. stressed, art can and should play a unifying role and give people hope for the future.

The film includes rare photographs, footage and audio recordings, sheding new light on the work and life of Andrei Tarkovsky.

The documentary about the director has previously been successfully screened in different countries.
