Russian racers win Silk Way Rally in various categories

The crew of the Russian Kamaz-master team led by Dmitry Sotnikov became the winner of the Silk Way rally-raid in the truck category for the 4th time, TASS reports. Russian pilots on all-terrain vehicles and SUVs became the best in their categories.

The Sotnikov's crew covered almost 4,500 kilometers in more than 31 hours. The 2nd place in the truck category was taken by the Russian crew of the same Kamaz-master team led by Eduard Nikolaev. The third place went to the team from Belarus.

Russian pilot Nikita Mazepin, known to racing fans around the world for participating in Formula 1 races, won the rally on an all-terrain vehicle.

Russians Denis Krotov and Konstantin Zhiltsov became the fastest in the SUV race. In the overall standings, they were ahead of the closest pursuers by more than ten hours.

The rally started on July 7 in Astrakhan, the participants covered ten sections, the route went through several regions of Russia, for the first time it ran through Chechnya and Dagestan. 80 crews from 20 countries joined the race. The rally was dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great and passed through the cities associated with the biography and activities of the Russian emperor.
