The International Circus Art Festival will be held in early November in St. Petersburg, TASS reports. According to Sergei Belyakov, head of the Russian State Circus, the festival will be timed to coincide with school holidays.

He noted that applications have already begun to come.Performers from more than 100 states are willing to come to St. Petersburg. Performers from France, Italy, Poland, USA, China, Mexico confirmed their participation.

Earlier, in Russia the management of the festival in Monte Carlo, scheduled for early next year, announced the decision not to invite Russian circus performers. The organizers of the festival explained this step by the fact that "the world has changed a lot" after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

In response, Russia decided to hold its own International Circus Art Festival. According to the Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, the exclusion of Russian performers from the festival in Monte Carlo did not reduce the internationally recognized level of the Russian circus, but had a negative impact on the long-term cultural cooperation between the countries.
