Latvia blocks access to dozens of Russian websites

Riga has banned access to more than 70 Russian news websites in the country, according to RIA Novosti. The list includes vesti.ru, lenta.ru, kremlin.ru, RIA Novosti, Sputnik.

The head of National Electronic Mass Media Council of Latvia (NEPLP), Ivars Abolins, promised that the agency would continue the checks. According to him, they banned websites where they found a "Russian narrative" about the military situation in Ukraine. The websites that contain materials about the crimes of the Ukrainian security forces were also blocked.

Prior to this, the Latvian authorities banned the work of a number of Russian TV channels on the territory of the state.
