The RT DE TV channel has been banned from broadcasting in Germany, TASS reports.

According to the German authorities, the broadcasting license, which the media outlet was supposed to receive under German law, was not received and was not requested. ''Therefore, the broadcasting of the TV channel live on the Internet, through the mobile and RT News application, as well as through satellite, must be stopped,''  the German media regulator MABB and the Commission for Licensing and Supervision (ZAK) of media institutions said in a statement.

RT DE intends to appeal this decision in court.  The actions of the German authorities contradict the principles of freedom of speech, the Union of Journalists of Russia (UJR) is sure. Vladimir Solovyov, who heads the organization, recalled that the head of the German Foreign Ministry had repeatedly said that the authorities cannot ban the work of the media.

RT launched a new round-the-clock news channel in German on December 16. On the same day, the channel was blocked on YouTube. After that, the German media regulator MABB forced the European satellite operator Eutelsat 9B to stop broadcasting the Russian TV channel in German RT DE to European countries. Broadcasting took place from a Moscow studio.
