Kamaz-master wins 1st stage of Dakar Rally

The first stage of the Dakar Rally brought victory to the Russian crews, TASS reports. This year, the famous race is taking place in Saudi Arabia. The first route   passed near Hail (north-western Saudi Arabia.)

The Kamaz-master team won the first four places in truck category. 

The first to complete a distance of 333 kilometers was the crew of Dmitry Sotnikov. It took him a little less than four hours to reach the finish line.  The crew of Eduard Nikolaev, who also represents Kamaz-master, lagged behind Sotnikov by a little more than half a minute.

The crews of the Russians Anton Shibalov and Andrei Karginov took third and fourth places, respectively, after the third Czech Ales Loprais was fined 15 minutes and rolled back to the 5th place.

In the overall standings, Sotnikov is in the lead, followed by Nikolaev, Shibalov and Karginov.

The second stage of the rally-marathon will take place on January 3, the length of the route is 338 km. The winner will be announced in two weeks, on January 14.
