International Tchaikovsky Festival of Arts opens in Klin

Klin (the Moscow region) is hosting an international arts festival named after Pyotr Tchaikovsky for the 7th time, TASS reports. The great composer lived there for many years and created many of his masterpieces there.

The festival program startss on Thursday, July 1, with a choreographic performance prepared under the direction of Nikolai Tsiskaridze. The audience will see fragments from Tchaikovsky's ballets - "The Nutcracker", "Sleeping Beauty", "Swan Lake". Dancers from the Mikhailovsky and Mariinsky Theaters will take the stage. They will be joined by dancers of the Sats Children's Musical Theater.

Saxophonist Vadim Eilenkrig, jazz singer Maria Carne and the State New Russia Symphony Orchestra will take part in the festival tomorrow. A concert by Denis Matsuev and the Moscow Soloists chamber ensemble is scheduled for July 3. 

The program includes chamber concerts and a round table. The Academy of Music for Gifted Children and at the School for Young Journalists will held special classes.
