Students of Russian schools won three gold and one silver medals at the IBO Challenge, RIA Novosti reports. This year's event was held instead of the International Biology Olympiad.

The Ministry of Education explained that the competition was transferred online due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation. The International Biological Olympiad was to become the 31st in a row. Russia was represented by four schoolchildren, all of them awarded.

Muscovites Maxim Kovalev and Ruslan Nagimov won gold medals. Nikolay Nikolaev from the Nizhny Novgorod region also became the winner. Another Moscow schoolboy, Oleg Kuzmenko, won a silver medal.

The best participants, as well as team leaders who successfully perform at international olympiads in school subjects, are awarded prizes. Their monetary prize can reach a million rubles. In addition, medalists receive the right to enter any national university without having to take exams.
