Forum of young writers of Russia and China held in Shanghai

A forum of young Russian and Chinese writers has opened in Shanghai, TASS reports. It is being held for the third time and has become a mechanism for strengthening ties between writers of both countries during its existence. The forum is taking place at Shanghai University of Foreign Languages, where the Russian Center of the Russkiy Mir Foundation operates. According to the participants of the forum, the event helps to expand bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.

Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation on cultural issues Vladimir Tolstoy believes that today cultural and humanitarian ties between Russia and China come to the fore. He recalled that in both politics and economics, interaction is at a very high level. At the same time, Vladimir Tolstoy is sure, partners need to learn more about each other. And the easiest way to do this is through acquaintance with the work of modern authors. It is contemporary works that reflect the processes that occur within the society of each country.

The communication between Russian and Chinese writers on such a platform turns into growth areas, allowing to strengthen relations between peoples.

Deputy Head of the Writers' Union of China Li Jingjie, in turn, recalled that Russian literature played a huge role in Chinese literary life. According to him, the spirit of Pushkin, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky is reflected in the works of all Chinese writers.

The humanitarian cooperation between Russia and China, according to Alexander Shmanevsky, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Shanghai, plays the role of a strong foundation for bilateral cooperation.

The result of the joint work of young Chinese and Russian authors is the publication of translations of their works in literary journals of the two countries. The forum has become a living platform for writers to communicate, find common ground in their work and discuss the most pressing issues that concern writers in Russia and China.
