Preservation of Russian heritage discussed at conference in London

Rossotrudnichestvo3d International conference Russian Heritage in Contemporary World: Russia and its Reflection in Great Britain was held in London, the website of Rossotrudnichestvo informs. The conference was supported by Russian Embassy and the event was organized in cooperation with Chamber of Russian Communities in UK.

The main target of the scientific-practical conference is collection and disclosure of materials about collaboration of national and foreign specialists in the sphere of Russian presence in different parts of the world. Historians, sociologists, figures of culture and teachers discussed contribution of Russian community into development of British and Irish communities.

The history of Russian-English relations over the last hundred years was discussed at the conference as well. In particular, influence of October Revolution on life and perception of Europeans and the role of people’s diplomacy and culture for stabilizing Russian-British relations of the half of 20th century.

Inventory of Russian graves in Great Britain proved necessity of drawing special attention to preservation and restoration of graves of well-known Russian figures resting in UK.

The conference ended up with a small concert with participation of Yuri Verevkin who performed several lyrical songs for the audience.
