MFA calls Estonian Waffen SS Division gathering “the shameless act”

02.08.2017

Estonian authorities consciously popularize fascism, Russian Foreign Ministry has stated. According to MFA, it is absolutely unacceptable for the European country that also holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, TASS reports.

Traditional gathering of Veterans of the Estonian Waffen SS Division is going to take place in the village of Sinimäe, north-east Estonia. Russian diplomats have called this event “the shameless act”. MFA has underlined once again that this meeting is not in line with the spirit of EU decision to combat racism and xenophobia.

Moscow has reminded that not only SS killing squads members, but also young generation of pro-fascists participate in this “sabbath”. It's worth mentioning that kids organizations also come to this gathering.

Despite all anti-fascists protests, Estonian authorities support this tradition for many years. At the end of the last year one of the schools has installed a bust of unterscharführer Waffen SS Harald Nugiseks. The solemn act of praising 95th anniversary of unterscharführer with an inauguration ceremony has been identified as disgraceful event.
