April is Russian-American history month in US

28.03.2017

Diliff/wikimedia.org The 6th Russian-American History Month is celebrated in April in the state of New York, according to the website of World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots. Traditionally, New York State Senate and Assembly voted a few days ago for the resolution in honor of Russian expats playing an important role in the national history. As previously, the Senate started its day with a Russian prayer pronounced by priest Alexander Golubev.

The annual event celebrates and honors the history of Russian Americans since 2012. The month of Russian-American history gained an official status in spring of 2015. The main goal of this campaign is to share with US nationals information about the deeds of Russian Americans for the country and for the whole world. Russian American Cultural center (RACC) is a traditional organizer of this event.

It is worth reminding that first activities have already started. In particular, First Chekhov International Theater Festival was kicked off with a play The Three Sisters in English staged in the Russian Arts Theatre with great success.
