Founder of Pojuschie Gitary dies

He was a founder of the famous Soviet Union's first rock band Pojuschie Gitary (The Singing Guitars), which art director Anatoly Vasilyev was to the last day of his life. He died in Saint Petersburg at the age of 81, reports RIA «Novosti».

Anatoly Vasilyev’s colleagues say that he devoted all his life to his pet project and was always faithful to it. Anantoly Vasilyev had a lot of students, friends and fans.

The Singing Guitars band was extremely popular at the beginning of the 1970s and it was well-known in the USSR. A lot of Russian people can still remember such their songs as Siniy Inei, Aleshka and A Song of a Bike Rider.

The Singing Guitars was a pioneer of national pop music. They gave up to 400 concerts a year and the houses were always full. Such well-known Russian musicians as Yury Antonov, Albert Asadullin and Irina Ponarovskaya among others used to be the members of the famous band.
