Italian performers pay tribute to memory of victims of Black Sea plane crash

Photo: Flickr/Bert Kaufmann The memory of victims of the Black Sea plane crash has been paid tribute to in the capital city of Italy, reports RIA«Novosti».

The memorial service was held at Santa Maria di Montesanto church located in Piazza del Popolo. The church is also known as “the church of artists”. Not only Italian singers, musicians and ensembles but foreign performers as well took part in the event. They sang songs from the repertoire of the Alexandrov ensemble.

As it was reported by Russkiy Mir website, Tu-154 aircraft crashed to the Black Sea on 25 December. It was going to Latakia from Adler carrying journalists, Doctor Liza and members of the famous Alexandrov ensemble.

The tragedy was covered in detail by Italian mass media and Italian people felt deeply sorry for it. For example, the RaiNews24 TV channel broadcast the national anthem of the Russian Federation performed by the famous ensemble several times on the day of the air crash.

It is to be recalled that earlier, the Schiller Institute NYC Community Chorus performed the national anthem of Russia at the building of the Consulate General of the RF in New York.

Services for the dead were held at Orthodox churches in many countries. They prayed for those killed in the air crash in Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, France, and Thailand among others.
