The Libyan Court declared Russian seamen arrested on the count of oil smuggling not guilty, reports RIA «Novosti». The seamen were given their documents back and came back to Russia.

According to Nuri Abdel Aty, head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice of Libya, at the moment, the court judgment is appealed by the prosecutor's office. Due to that, the seamen had to stand bail for themselves. The Russian seamen will have to arrive in Libya again when the reconsideration of the smuggling case starts.

It is to be recalled that a tanker with 12 crew members was arrested in Libyan territorial waters last September. Representatives of the Libyan authorities claimed then that the vessel had been sailing towards the oil harbor having no required permit. Later, the Russian seamen were suspected of the smuggling of Libyan oil.
