It is to be recalled that the festival was initiated by a famous Russian film director Nikita Mikhalkov. According to him, the festival will contribute to the development of cinematography in Crimea and to the strengthening of international cultural relations.

Russian cinematographers, guests from former Soviet republics, Belgium, India, Serbia, South Korea and China take part in it.

The festival program includes the screening of feature and documentary films, film premieres and retrospective shows, meet-the-artist events, master-classes, discussions, round tables dealing with various subjects and presentations.

The festival award winners will be announced on 5 October. The festival will finish with a new film made by Nikolai Khomerici named “Ice Breaker”.

The Crimea authorities believe that the festival will become an annual event and turn into a Crimean calling card.

Yalta is well known in the world of cinematography. Over 100 ago, the first Russian full-length film “Defence of Sevastopol" was shot there. Its first performance took place in Crimea at the Livadia Palace and the family of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II was present at it.
