Russkiy Mir Foundation and Gorchakov Fund for Public Diplomacy Support Sign Cooperation Agreement

05.08.2014

On August 5 a cooperation agreement was signed between the Russkiy Mir Foundation and the Gorchakov Fund for Public Diplomacy Support. The two organizations plan to unify efforts to help compatriots abroad in alignment with Russia’s core foreign policy and diplomacy priorities, such as support for preservation of the Russian language as well as the cultural and spiritual values of our country.

On behalf of the Russkiy Mir Foundation the agreement was signed by Executive Director Vladimir Kochin and on behalf of the Gorchakov Fund – by Executive Director Leonid Drachevsky. Speaking at the signing ceremony, the head of the Gorhakov Fund noted the need to combine efforts for the exchange of information and practices as well as to complement one another in promoting Russian political thought.

Vladimir Kochin confirmed that the organizations’ cooperative efforts would not be limited to the scope of the agreement and expressed his confidence that the achievement of a new level of cooperation in joint efforts to increase Russia’s soft power would first of all be expressed in new projects to provide informational support for the humanities component of Russia’s foreign policy.

During the course of the discussion the participants of the meeting placed an emphasis on the relevance of issues concerning objective coverage of Russian policy in foreign media and support of Russian-language media abroad. The head of the two organizations put forward a number of proposals which will lie at the foundation of joint long-term projects.
