The Russkiy Mir Assembly Has Kicked off in Moscow

According to the Voice of Russia correspondent, some 1,000 guests from 80 countries have come to attend the forum that is basically focused on the promotion of Russian and Russian history.

The assembly was declared open by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who said Russia should prioritize the promotion of cultural area and cooperation with compatriots abroad.

He pointed out that action is currently being taken on the state programme on support for the Russian language, a programme that’s been drawn up until 2015, and that a concept is being formulated to support the promotion of the Russian language and Russian-medium schools abroad.

In this context, Medvedev urged Russian and foreign businessmen to invest in the promotion of the Russian language.
