About 50 cooperation agreements were concluded at the Conference of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities, TASS reports. Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy highly appreciated the forum. According to him, the participants discussed many topics that relate to both the current state of affairs and the situation in the future. The forum has laid a solid ground for strengthening partnership, Viktor Sadovnichy is sure.

The conference took place in the United Arab Emirates. The heads of the Ministries of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Oman, Sudan, Qatar and Libya gathered in Sharjah. They were joined by 200 rectors and representatives of leading universities in Russia and the Arab world.

Sadovnichy called the conference one of the best examples of cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere. The participants of the meeting, in particular, agreed to "develop joint scientific research and academic programs."

The communique adopted at the end of the meeting speaks of the need to promote academic exchanges between Arab and Russian universities, to promote accreditation and increase prestige in international rankings.
