The BRICS countries plan to develop cooperation in all key areas, TASS reports. The statement adopted following the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the member states notes that their cooperation is based on a solid foundation consisting of mutual respect, consensus, understanding, equality, solidarity and openness.

The summit participants noted that they are concerned about the use by some countries of unilateral measures that are incompatible with the principles of the UN. According to them, the consequences of such actions can negatively affect developing countries.

The BRICS countries are ready to expand and improve global governance by promoting a more flexible, efficient and representative international structure.

The foreign ministers of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa pointed to the importance of settling the Ukrainian conflict through diplomacy. They also stressed the need for full implementation of the grain deal by all parties to the agreement.

The meeting opened the day before, on June, 1, in Cape Town. The meeting, chaired by South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor, was devoted to discussing the BRICS summit. It is scheduled for the end of the summer. Johannesburg will host the heads of state of the association.
