A third of the Russians who took part in the Komsomolskaya Pravda poll consider it necessary to organize a broad campaign to support Russians in European countries. The survey was conducted after it became known that Riga intended to limit the use of the Russian language in public places.

Many respondents stated that they were aware of other cases of discrimination against Russians abroad in the past six months. Two-thirds of the respondents are sure that Russians today need protection. 33% were in favor of a large-scale campaign aimed at supporting Russians in the European Union. At the same time, survey participants recall that Russophobia began to flourish in the states to which Russia has repeatedly provided help.

23% of respondents offer to help Russians who have faced violations of their rights and pressure abroad to return to their homeland. At the same time, some survey participants believe that it will be very difficult for many compatriots who have long settled in other countries to move to Russia.

Every tenth person is sure that if the Russian language is banned in Latvia, it will be necessary to seek justice from international legal organizations.

Latvian authorities intend to limit the use of the Russian language in public places and various industries. Trade and service sectors are planned to become the first to eliminate the Russian language. It is possible that Russian will alter disappear from telephone and banking messages.

Of the 1.8 million inhabitants of Latvia, 40%  speak Russian. Meanwhile, Russian is considered a foreign language, and there is only one state language - Latvian.
