It is possible that a ban on the issuance of Schengen visas to Russian citizens will be included in the next package of anti-Russian sanctions, RIA Novosti reports. This was confirmed by the German government. The decision has not yet been made, and Berlin declined to comment on whether all EU countries would support it.

German government spokesman Steffen Hebeshtreit noted that the proposal to ban the issuance of Schengen visas for Russians would be discussed within the EU, and he had nothing to report on the interim results. According to Hebeshtreit, the German government "took note of such a proposal at the EU level."

Ealrier, the head of the Estonian government, Kaya Kallas, supported the call of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to stop issuing visas to Russians. She believes that visiting European countries is not a right, but a privilege for everyone. ''Stop issuing visas to Russians,'' the politician said.
