Uganda cannot be an adversary of Russia, since Moscow has never harmed the inhabitants of the African country, moreover, it has provided assistance for a century. This statement was made by Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at a press conference following a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, TASS reports.

The head of state recalled that Moscow had supported Uganda in various historical periods. In particular, the Soviet Union helped the African country during its anti-colonial struggle. In the middle of the 20th century, Moscow supported the young communist countries, including Uganda.

According to the President, these and other examples of Moscow's assistance encourage Uganda to reject calls for an anti-Russian political stance. The head of the African state said that the inhabitants of the country have forgiven those states that participated in the colonization. And they certainly cannot have an anti-Russian stance, since Russia has never harmed Uganda.
