Russia will leave the International Space Station (ISS) project in two years, Interfax reports. According to the head of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov, the corresponding decision has already been made. He assured that Russia would fulfill all its obligations by that time. Exit from the project is planned after 2024. After that, Borisov is sure, Russia will start creating its own orbital station.

He called the creation of the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS) the main task of Roscosmos in the field of manned cosmonautics.

Borisov explained that the space industry is in a difficult situation. He promised, together with his colleagues, to provide the Russian economy with the necessary space services: navigation, communication, data transmission, meteorological, geodetic information, etc.

In June, Dmitry Rogozin, who at that time headed Roscosmos, stated that the resumption of negotiations on the extension of the work of the ISS after 2024 was possible only if US sanctions against the Russian space industry were lifted. In the spring, Rogozin said that Roscosmos did not want to stop cooperation with international partners in the ISS.
