The Estonian authorities are planning to get rid of all the monuments that perpetuate the feat of the Soviet soldiers-liberators, RIA Novosti reports. Prime Minister Kaya Kallas said that the corresponding decision has already  been made by the new Estonian Cabinet of Ministers at its first meeting.

The prime minister promised that this issue would be solved as early as 2022. She noted that the issue of the demolition of monuments involved local authorities.

Kaya Kallas did not hide the fact that the decision on the fate of the monuments was accelerated by the Ukrainian crisis. At first, the governement discussed the possibility of removing monuments located in parks and densely populated areas. Now it is decided to demolish all 148 monuments.

As Russkiy Mir reported, sharp indignation was expressed at the Russian Embassy at the continuation of the war with monuments that is being waged in Estonia.

It is regrettable that a country that considers itself civilized and democratic behaves so shamefully towards fallen heroes, the Russian Embassy said. ''Modern gravediggers do not deserve any other feelings than contempt,'' Russian diplomats are convinced.
