A rich program awaits the President of the Russian Federation during his visit to Iran, TASS reports. On Tuesday, July 19, he is scheduled to travel to Tehran, where three bilateral meetings and negotiations in a trilateral format are scheduled.

Vladimir Putin is going to meet with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi. There will also be a conversation with the country's spiritual leader Ali Khamenei. The Kremlin believes that Iran is one of the key Russian partners. Moscow and Tehran have been linked by friendly relations for several centuries, which are actively developing at the present stage.

According to the Presidential aide, Yuri Ushakov, the issue of deepening cooperation between the two countries is of particular importance due to the expansion of Western sanctions against Russia. Nuclear deal negotiations remain an important issue.

In Tehran, Vladimir Putin will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They will discuss key issues of cooperation,  the situation around Syria in the light of Turkey's plans to conduct a new military operation in the north of the neighboring country. The Ukrainian crisis will also be discussed.

A meeting of the heads of Russia, Iran and Turkey, guarantors of the Astana process of assistance to the Syrian settlement, is scheduled to take place.

The Astana format continues to prove its effectiveness. A stable cessation of hostilities is being maintained across much of Syrian territory, the Kremlin said. Among the topics of the summit will be humanitarian issues related to Syria.
