International economic forum kicks off in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) started on Wednesday, June 15, TASS reports. Representatives of 127 countries arrived in the city.

Almost 50 countries sent official delegations. British, Chinese, American, Italian, German businesses are represented at the forum. It is expected that the number of participants will approach 3,000 people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin traditionally speaks at SPIEF. This year, the forum will be attended by Kazakh and Armenian presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vahagn Khachaturian, as well as leaders of the Donbass republics Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin. Egypt received the status of the guest country.

SPIEF is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Over the years of its existence, it has become an effective platform for discussing topical problems and challenges facing the modern world. 

The SPIEF program will be complemented by forums for small and medium-sized businesses, creative businesses, the SPIEF.Junior conference and Drug Safety. The development of the Arctic region will be also discussed during the forum.
