Dozens of diplomats from European countries will have to leave Russia in the near future. The heads of diplomatic missions of France, Spain and Italy received the corresponding notes. This step became a reaction to provocative and unreasonable decision to expel employees of Russian diplomatic missions.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that the actions of these countries lead to a serious deterioration in relations with Russia.

Moscow is expelling 34 members of the French diplomatic corps. They are given two weeks to leave the country.

The expulsion by Madrid of 27 employees of Russian foreign missions led to the same number of Spanish diplomats being declared persona non grata. They must leave Russia no later than a week later.

Moscow is also expelling 24 Italian diplomats as a retaliatory measure.
