The American Space Foundation faced crtisism for the decision to drop the name of the Soviet cosmonaut from its Yuri's Night auction parties, RIA Novosti reports.

The organization indicated that the mention of Gagarin's name was banned due to recent events, later these words were removed.

The decision angered social media users, who called these actions erroneous and demanded that the company "at least take their hands off Gagarin."

Yuri’s Night parties are held around the world every April in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space. Their mission, according to the organizers, is to ''use the excitement and inspiration of space as a catalyst for educating and developing the next generation of explorers.''
