The BRICS Center for Research and Development of Vaccines opened on March 22, TASS reports. The  online center is a network of medical research centers and laboratories of all BRICS countries. Last year, the association decided to strengthen cooperation to combat pandemics and epidemics of dangerous diseases.

This initiative will allow for a more justified distribution of drugs as a global public good. It will also help make vaccines more accessible to people in developing countries.

According to Mansukh Mandaviya, who heads the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the center's work accumulates the capabilities of all the BRICS countries in drug development.

Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology of South Africa Blade Nzimande has no doubt that the whole world will benefit from the center. He called this initiative a prime example of international cooperation in the field of science.
