Scientific studies have proven the safety of the combination of the Russian Sputnik Light vaccine and AstraZeneca, RIA Novosti reports. In a joint statement by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), AstraZeneca and R-Pharm, it is noted that this is evidenced by the interim results of the second phase of clinical trials. The trials were held in Armenia and Russia, 100 people from each country took part in it.

The combined use of the two vaccines is reported to have shown an optimal safety and tolerability profile. This is in line with the results of previous vaccine safety trials by AstraZeneca, Sputnik V and Sputnik Light.

Volunteers were followed up for almost two months after the first vaccination. During this time, no serious negative consequences were recorded.

As part of the study, volunteers receive injections of the AstraZeneca vaccine and the Sputnik V component of the vaccine in a different sequence after 28 days.
