Croatia is going to withdraw its troops from NATO in Eastern Europe if the conflict between Russia and Ukraine goes escalates, President Zoran Milanovic promised. According to him, the country will have "nothing to do" with this, RIA Novosti reports.

He assured that Zagreb would not send its soldiers to the conflict zone. Moreover, Milanovic noted that in this case he guarantees that all Croatian servicemen will return to their homeland.

Milanovic stressed that this decision has nothing to do with Kiev or Moscow. It is the result of the American politics. He called the country's behavior in the international arena "dangerous."

The President of Croatia ais sure that there is no place for Ukraine in NATO, since corruption there has crossed all the possible limits.

Kiev demanded that Zagreb apologize, summoned the Croatian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry and declared the president's statements "absolutely unacceptable." The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also believes that the words of the Croatian leader insult "the memory of Ukrainians and foreigners who gave their lives for the European future of Ukraine."

NATO is currently sending additional ships and fighters to Eastern Europe. The alliance explains these steps by the fact that Russia is allegedly building up its armed forces near the Ukrainian borders.
