More than 700,000 people became Russian citizens last year, TASS reports. According to The Ministry of Internal Affairs, this figure is almost 80,000 higher than the number of those who received the country's citizenship in 2020.

The residents of Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Armenia are the most frequent applicants for the Russian citizenship.

The number of foreign citizens who were put on migration registration has also increased. In 2020, their number reached almost ten million, in 2021 it exceeded 13 million people.

At the same time, the number of foreigners entering Russia from visa countries has decreased. In 2021, more than 216,00 visas were issued, in 2020 - almost 225,000.
