Russian cosmonaut Nikolai Chub, who was preparing for a trip to the United States to train at the Lyndon Johnson Space Center, has been denied a US visa. The cosmonaut , whose flight to the International Space Station (ISS) should take place next spring, was not allowed into the United States without any explanation provided, TASS reports.

Roskosmos noted that the development of emergency actions by crew members on the Russian and American segments is a must for the safety of the mission.

Failure to issue a visa to Nikolai Chub, for whom the upcoming space flight will be the first, will lead to an adjustment in the schedule for his preparation. The cosmonaut is included in the crew, which will launch next spring. He is also listed among the understudies of the team, which will go to the ISS next fall.

According to tradition, Russian cosmonauts go to Houston before their flights to undergo a training course, and astronauts from the United States and other countries are met in Star City in Kazakhstan, leased by Russia. This exchange is necessary to get acquainted with the foreign segment of the ISS.
