70,000 people attended Ilya Repin's exhibition in Paris

Almost 70,000 people have visited the exhibition of prominent Russian painter Ilya Repin, TASS reports. According to the director of the Tretyakov Gallery, Zelfira Tregulova, the exhibition has been a huge success. 

"Painting the soul of Russia'' exhibition began working in Paris in early October. Such a large-scale exposition of the great artist is being held in Paris for the first time. The exposition is located in Petit Palais. Russian Ambassador Alexei Meshkov and UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay were among the first to visit it.

More than 100 paintings are brought to France. They were provided by the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Finnish Art Museum Ateneum. Repin's masterpieces, such as "Barge Haulers on the Volga", "Cossacks Write a Letter to the Turkish Sultan," are exhibited in Paris.  They are complemented by portraits of  Leo Tolstoy, Ivan Turgenev, Modest Mussorgsky, Mikhail Glinka.
