Exhibition about Alexander Nevsky held in Sofia

An exhibition of photographs, timed to coincide with the anniversary of Alexander Nevsky, has kicked off in Sofia, TASS reports. The exposition is taking place at the Rossotrudnichestvo office.

The organizers of the exhibition project are the authorities of St. Petersburg, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Bulgaria. According to the organizers, the importance of the image of Alexander Nevsky as a military leader, statesman, saint for St. Petersburg cannot be overestimated.

Among the exhibits are several dozen photographs. Some depict details of the interior decoration of the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, St. Isaac's and Sampson's Cathedrals, which are inaccessible even to their visitors. They are situated far and high, closed by gate structures or restoration scaffolding. Some fragments of the dome painting, mosaic canvases, sculptures and much more are presented at the exhibition.

The exposition will remain in Sofia until the new year, then it will travel around the country.

Museum staff worked on the creation of the exhibition for a year. Technical issues required a lot of attention. In addition, the creators of the exhibition wanted the photographs to convey the unique character of each temple. According to the photographer Yevgeny Gorokh, the author of many photographs, another exhibition is now being prepared, it will tell about the progress of the restoration of the temple.

A colorful catalog and a set of postcards were released for the photo exhibition, which are available to all visitors.
