The State Hermitage Museum has begun the development of its complete digital twin within the framework of the Heavenly Hermitage project. The project will feature exhibitions, tours, lectures, collections of exhibits and many other digital products reflecting the activities of the Hermitage. Internet users will be able to visit the repositories of one of the leading museums of fine arts in Russia, TASS reports.

According to the head of the Hermitage's contemporary art department, Dmitry Ozerkov, work on creating a digital twin has already begun, and consultations with partners are currently underway.

It is assumed that the project will incorporate all the activities of the Hermitage and present it in digital form. Online visitors from anywhere in the world will be able to visit exhibitions, get acquainted with the collections, attend lectures and master classes.

Ozerkov explained that the Heavenly Hermitage will collect data concerning the museum and its exhibits from various archives. For example, visitors will be able to see not only the painting itself, but also to follow the process of its restoration.
