The law on compulsory photographing and fingerprinting for foreign citizens entering Russia has come into force, RIA Novosti reports. The corresponding amendments came into force on Wednesday, December 29.

Foreigners who plan to stay on Russian territory for more than three months are required to go through this procedure within 90 days. For labor migrants, a month is provided.

Foreigners need to personally contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs, its subordinate enterprise or an authorized organization. The procedure is required to be completed only once.

Most of those who can stay in Russia without fingerprinting and medical examination are citizens of the EAEU countries. Migrants will be required to undergo a medical examination within 30 days, confirming the absence of HIV infection, infectious diseases that pose a danger to others, as well as drug addiction.

In addition, on December 29, the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev came into force. All migrants will have to obtain a patent for work. It will contain information about fingerprints, biometric data, last name, first name, patronymic, date of birth, citizenship, passport number, and profession.
