Mstislav Rostropovich Festival welcomes guests from Argentina, France and Germany

The festival named after the famous musician Mstislav Rostropovich, opens on Thursday, December 2, TASS reports. This year guests from France, Germany and Argentina are taking part in it. The festival will be the 12th in a row. 

Musicians from Germany will be the first to appear on the stage of the Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow. The Munich Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra will perform works by Schubert and Mahler. German cellist Daniel Müller-Schott will also take the stage. 

Carlos Buono from Argentina is brinfing a tango evening to Moscow. On December 7, a concert of the singer from Germany Matthias Gerne and the young pianist from France Alexander Kantorov is planned. The Svetlanova State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russi will perform works by Shostakovich, Karaev and Gershwin, together with French cellist Gauthier Capuson.

The final evening of the festival, coinciding with the Memorial Day of Rostropovich's wife, opera singer Galina Vishnevskaya, will take place on the stage of her Opera Singing Center. The program  will feature two unfinished operas by the composer - "The Gamblers" and "Big Lightning."
