Russian parliamentarians demand that the American authorities stop persecuting the representatives of the Russian community in the country. This is stated in a a document adopted by the State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament) on Tuesday, December 7,  the website of the State Duma reports.

The authors of the document stress that the American special services are practically forcing their compatriots "to abandon the ideas of preservation of the Russian language and culture, as well as their identity.", which violates the provisions of the American constitution.

The State Duma deputies called the US policy aggressive. They demand to put an end to the persecution of representatives of the Russian community in the US and remind of the need to respect their rights.

During 2021, at least 300 Russian compatriots, including students and retired people, "were subjected to investigative measures by the FBI." FBI hostilities continued for several years. Members of the Russian diaspora were threatened with criminal prosecution, accused of not complying with the law on foreign agents.

As a result, the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in the United States was forced to suspend its activities. In a statement published on the organization's website, it is said that the reason was an investigation by American intelligence services.
