Starting from the next academic year, the Russian language will become a compulsory subject in the universities of the Central African Republic (CAR). Two years ago, it was also included in the school curriculum in the republic, RBC reports.

It is noted that the relevant decision was made by the authorities of the republic within the framework of the plan for cooperation between the CAR and Russia.

Students of local universities will study the Russian language from the first year of the bachelor's program to the master's degree. Work is underway to create educational programs. The educational establishments of the CAR have experience in teaching the Russian language; it used to be included in the curriculum of local schools in the 1960s and 1970s.

The Central African media reported that the ministers of education of the two states will discuss the topic of studying the Russian language, the meeting is scheduled for early next year. It is possible that the parties will raise the issue of sending Russian specialists to the CAR.
