A monument to the Russian military has been erected in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR),  RIA Novosti reports. The government of the African country explained that they wanted to thank Moscow for the help provided to the state army.

The opening ceremony of the monument took place the day before, on November 29.

According to the Russian ambassador to the CAR, Vladimir Titorenko, Russian millitary instructors work in the country. They train government army personnel. Titorenko assured that the UN Security Council and the Sanctions Committee were notified of the work in the CAR of the Russian military.

The CAR army was able to cope with terrorist groups on its territory thanks to the active assistance of Russian military instructors, said Alexander Ivanov, head of the Association of Officers for International Security. He added that the instructors provided assistance in planning operations, tactics, and organizing logistics.
