The Festival of Russian Culture was held for the 18th time in Essen, Germany. The city administration and the Russian Consulate General in Bonn helped to organize it, Russkoe Pole reports.

The program of the festival, which took place in the old mansion of the burgomaster of Verdun, included a concert and presentation of Martin Schneider's new book "Bound by Steel and Amber".

The book was published by the Rhine-Ruhr-Russia Public Association, headed by Martin Schneider. The book is dedicated to the Russian trace in the history and culture of Germany and, in particular, Essen.

Essen is a twin city of Nizhny Novgorod; in the early 1990s, a group of Essen residents approached the authorities of the Russian city with an offer of friendship. A postcard dedicated to the partnership relations between the two cities has been issued for the memorable date.
