The works of Soviet writer, director and actor Vasily Shukshin will be discussed during a seminar, which is scheduled to take place on November 27 in Helsinki, YLE reports.

The organizer of the action is the Society of Russian Literature with the participation of the National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI)and the Helsinki Central Library Oodi.

Finnish researchers of Shukshin's work are going to speak at the seminar. The list of speakers include professor of Russian literature Pekka Pesonen, researcher of Soviet and Russian cinema Lauri Piispa, journalist and writer Pentti Stranius.

According to the organizers, the work of Shukshin was chosen as a topic for the seminar, since it is known for its "versatility and bright talent."

Shukshin's works are familiar to those residents of Finland who read foreign literature translated into Finnish in the second half of the last century. However, Shukshin is practically unknown to young Finns. But many of today's students are interested in the history of the Soviet Union. In addition to the seminar, a screening of Shukshin's films is scheduled to take place.
