Russia has sent 500 LED lamps to Havana, TASS reports. The manufacturer itself - the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant - handed them over to the Cuban capital as humanitarian aid. The handover ceremony took place the day before, November 9, in Cuba.

Equipment is needed to illuminate Havana roads. It is planned that the city will change almost 250,000 street lighting lamps. This move will allow the city to significantly reduce energy consumption. Some of the LED lamps are planned to be imported from Russia. Russian specialists who are now in Cuba will help to install the lamps.

Last week, Russia completed the first stage of a humanitarian action in Cuba. Medicines, medical devices and essential goods worth $28,000 were delivered to Cuba. More than t250 people and 13 organizations from 32 Russian regions took part in the action. Individuals and organizations donated money to help Cuba, handed over essential items to the organizers and helped to deliver the cargo.
